Fundraising for King's College Hospital
Tara's dad is going to undertake a series of sponsored activities to raise money for Kings College Hospital, London, UK as a way of saying thank-you for saving her life. Only 1/3 of the hospital's budget comes from the UK government - the rest it has to raise. So it needs the help of fundraisers to ensure that it can offer to others the services that have given Tara an opportunity for a bright future.
Unfortunately, dad's original first challenge, Trans High Atlas Mountains Cycle, 15 - 23 May 2010, was canceled due to lack of participants. However, the funds raised for that were instead transferred to another trip that is even more challenging: Land's End to John O'Groats Cycle, 4 - 16 May 2010. The trip was completed over a very tiring 12 days and raised an amazing £3100 for King's. Thank-you so much to everybody who donated!
Dad was also intending to trek to the Everest Base Camp. But realising that training for that was not going well he has switched to another task that he is far more likely to excel at (since he cycles more than he walks) - a mammoth cycle from London to Nice, taking in The Alps en-route!
And if you're interested in raising money for the hospital, please get in touch with the King's Fundraising Department.
