Hope After a Paediatric Brain Tumor

This site is dedicated to Tara Huckle and her fight back to health from a life threatening brain tumor.

Tara's Story

Tara's Tale is a story of hope to all those families forced to face the realities of serious illness.

Fundraising for King's College Hospital

Without the skill and dedication of the staff at King's College Hospital, London, UK, Tara would not be alive today. King's only receives 1/3 of its annual budget from the UK government - the rest comes through fundraising activities. And so Tara's dad is going to do a series of challenges to raise money for the hospital, as well as raise the profile of childhood brain tumours.

Dad has completed his first challenge - Land's End to John O'Groats, 4 - 16 May 2010! The trip raised an amazing £3100 for King's. Thank-you so much to everybody who donated!

Dad was going to be walking to the Everest Base camp as his second challenge. But he has decided against it because the air miles contradict his environmental beliefs and he has recognised that training for the trek was not going well. He also feels that 3 weeks away from his daughters is too long!

So instead he has switched to another task for which he is more likely to train succesfully, does not take him away from his daughters for so long and does not compromise his green agenda. This is a mammoth cycle from London to Nice, taking in The Alps en-route! Dad is now doing this on 16 - 30 May 2012, with the target to raise another £5125.

Raise Awareness of Paediatric Brain Tumors

There is very little research effort going into paediatric brain tumors. And yet the effects of the disease can be devastating. Only by raising the profile (and funds) can we hope to find cures and better outcomes for those most seriously affected.
